Man flying with geese

crossing skies in fright

Skipping ahead of the snow-time

like an arrow skimming light.

Man slides behind seven-strong pair

wings thrashing the air

Man rides in up-draft

hair streaming and fair.

Man slides forward now

joining the seven-strong

Will he pull the flock along

or strive and loop and throng?

Wings caress the thermals

drinking height, drawing rest.

And far along the horizon

night's quiet waits.
