of passage

passage: from περᾰ́ω  (peráō)

to go from one side to another

to pass through, over or traverse, cross, esp. over water

(intransitive) to penetrate or pierce (of a pointed weapon)

Lightning races its way

across the sky’s canvas,

dodging and ducking

like a tsotsi accelerating from the cops.

Traffic snakes and winds through

the city’s tight passages,

churning and bustling

like commuters in a taxi rank.

Rain and hail pummel

against a sea of roofs,

stinging and bouncing

like pebbles swung from a slingshot.

Faces sweat and shine

under the clouds' theatre,

like helium balloons

pulled along on strings.

Clouds threaten damage

from purple-black bruises,

rolling and steaming

like a pissed-off angry mama.

Jozi’s sky-line flickers

behind the storm’s drama,

dancing and jiving

like the dizzy lights of jazz.

You say numbers

I see colours

He says months

You see shapes

She plays music

I taste flavours

We tell stories

You hear accusations

We share pain

They see aggression

We want light

They foster darkness

You are the calm to my chaos

the air to my fire.

You are the sunlight to my morning

the starlight to my dusk.

You are a calm still lake

to my frenetic breeze.

And where we meet, the ripples dance

and the light glimmers.

TRACERY

Where fairies dream (1024x683)_edited.jpg
Through Light Cover Image_edited.jpg

ANGRY RED SUN, PALE SHADOWED NIGHT

a second stab at a book-style tranche of writings. formed in the end not entirely how it was intended.

THROUGH LIGHT

first steps. written mostly past midnight through dawn. night muse visitations.

WHO AM I?

Strandloper, edge-dweller, being. Sometime poet.

This site began as insomnia. Soon there were enough words for a book (Through Light). A little later, another collection was almost a book (Angry Red Sun, Pale Shadowed Night). Then came snatches of someone's thoughts from somewhere (As It Is). Dark tidings have also been received (Death by Agreement).
Along the way there are words on a plane (Tracery).
